Take all structures and Gaiaformers of your color.The factions' abilities are explained in detail in the Faction Abilities section.Place your faction board in front of you with the chosen faction faceup.Continuing in clockwise order, each other player does the same with the remaining faction boards.Or, if not using a first-game setup, the first player chooses any one of the seven faction boards, then chooses either of the faction sides on it and places the board on the table with that side faceup.4 players -: Terrans, Hadsch Hallas, Xenos, Taklons.1 player - Hadsch Hallas (Human), Taklons (Automa).For your first game, the following factions are recommended.Provide them with the first player marker. Tiles one through four can be placed as in the standard setup above, with the rest randomized for placement and rotation. Use tiles 1 through 7 for 1 or 2 players. Game Board setup for more advanced players - use all 10 tiles for 3 or 4 players.Tiles 4 and 7 go below (again, in that order). Tile 2 goes on the left, tile 6 goes on the right. The playing area is made of ten sectors, allowing a variable set-up and thus an even bigger replay value than its predecessor Terra Mystica. To do all of that, each group has special skills and abilities. In addition, Gaia planets can be used by all factions for colonization, and Transdimensional planets can be changed into Gaia planets.Īll factions can improve their skills in six different areas of development - Terraforming, Navigation, Artificial Intelligence, Gaiaforming, Economy, Research - leading to advanced technology and special bonuses. As in the original Terra Mystica, fourteen different factions live on seven different kinds of planets, and each faction is bound to their own home planets, so to develop and grow, they must terraform neighboring planets into their home environments in competition with the other groups. Gaia Project is a new game in the line of Terra Mystica. This game is quite complex and includes several rules appendices - these reference sections are outlined here.
